BEAUTY AND THE FREAK ! - Media Product

I made this trailer with very little time and very little software, however considering this I think it came out well. The trailer is for a move called 'Beauty and the Freak' in which i tried to create as many simple yet commanding scenes as possible. I thoroughly enjoyed filming and editing this trailer as I got to use a wide range of effects and sounds enabling the trailer to look practical.

Editing photo's in a new kind of way ...

With a lot of my editing previously i added subtle yet vibrant backgrounds. However here i decided i wanted it to look a lot more professional. This particular photo was inspired by many photo's that are taken in extremely popular and professional studios. This is by far my favourite edited picture!!

Kazmir Malevich

Kazmir Malevich was a russian painter and art theoretician, Malevich was a 'pioneer of geometric abstract art and the originator of the avant-garde suprematist movement.' Whilst looking over famous artists I came across Malevich. His work fascinated me instantly. His use of abstractionism gives the painting an edge and in a way stimulates the brain!

These are just a few examples of Malevich's work. If you look at them closely you see the intention they have and how extraordinary they really are.

Editing skills!

These are a few photo's that I have taken and tried to edit them. I have realised I enjoy editing and finding new ways to do things! Here are a few examples of my editing! Although they are quite simple, they are also at the same time very vibrant! Below I have included the edits as well as the original version...

Horror movie script by me! :)

My very own script for a HORROR MOVIE! :)

FADE IN:

FULL SHOT –
                                     ‘MOVING DAY – 8TH JANUARY 2009’

It is mid- afternoon and there is music playing whilst a black car is pulling up into the long stone filled drive way, the children get out the car; the door slams as its closed and a quick shot of birds flying away.

Tracking shot – MUM AND DAD walking to the door with one box each,  as MUM opens the door, there’s a slight creak she puts down the box and takes a QUIFF of the new home smell.

MUM
                                                Honey, we’re home

CUT to the two daughters; KELLY and ELLIE.

ELLIE runs upstairs and ‘bagsies’ her room.

                                                            ELLIE
(We hear here voice from the distance upstairs)
This ones mine! Kelly I’ve already called it!

KELLY runs upstairs; follows ellie and as she’s half way up the stairs she sees a bright light flickering in one room downstairs – THE BASEMENT.

The light turns off – KELLY runs upstairs and finds her room. A door downstairs SLAMS SHUT – she jumps.

                        CUTS TO OUTSIDE.

MUM and DAD are moving the rest of the boxes inside the house, ZOOM into one box – the box with KELLY’s china doll ß close up of doll.

ELLIE and KELLY run downstairs and ask to explore the house, ELLIE grabs KELLYS arm and they start exploring- long shot of girls holding hands walking down the long corridor.

The girls see the door for the basement –
                        Dialogue between ELLIE and KELLY:

                                                            ELLIE
WOAH!  Kels, lets check out this room!

KELLY refuses – CLOSE UP of her scared face.

                                                            KELLY
Ellie! Don’t go in there, it’s dark and scary and you never know what could be down there!

                                                            MUM:
                                                  Girls, dinners ready
GIRLS look at each other- both shout:
coming!

DISSOLVE into - the family around the dinner table.

DAD:
So girls, how do you like the house?

ELLIE
I personally LOVE IT! Although, it could use a bit of work!

MUM
How about you Kelly? Why are you so quiet?

KELLY
Erm, yeah, I, I, like it

LIGHT BULB FLICKERS

DAD:
Oh, well that’s got to be sorted out

LIGHT BULB FLICKERS – AGAIN.

ALL lights go off -
ALL lights turn back on.

ELLIE’S GONE.
Close up of MUM, DAD and KELLY
                        (Anxious, Scared, petrified)

LOOKING ROOM shot
                                                            KELLY

“ELLIE, ELLIE, WHERE ARE YOU? ELLIE!”

No response.

Extreme close up – DAD hears a noise downstairs – coming from the basement.

DAD slowly walks towards the door, opens the creaking door and walks down the stairs.

A SUDDEN FLASH of ELLIE on the bed with KELLY’s china doll.
Her face is dark and her eyes are spaciously open.

DAD gets to the bottom of the basement stairs and pulls on a piece of string – The light.

Light goes on.
DAD runs over to ellie picks her up in his arms and swings her.
 OVER THE SHOULDER SHOT
                                                            DAD

“ELLIE! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?,
WHY ARE YOU DOWN HERE?”

Zoomed over the shoulder shot.

ELLIE stares at DAD - NO response.

                                                            DAD
Ellie! Please answer me!
                                                            ELLIE
                                                Daddy, I don’t know
                                                            DAD
ELLIE, what do you mean you don’t know?
                                                            ELLIE
JESSICA told me I’d be safer here
                                                            DAD
                                                Who’s JESSICA, ELLIE?

CUTS to MORNING.

I have enjoyed writing scripts from a very young age. This particular script is for a horror movie that i created. I looked at various horror films and was inspired a lot by a film called 'Hide and Seek' which is one of my favourite horror films! Within this script I chose to use the surprise element however I also intended the script to be as visual as possible enabling my readers to create their own vision and perception of the horror film.

Jerry Uelsmann

Jerry Uelsmann is an american born photographer who does not seek to create narratives but to focus mainly on surrealist imagery.

The images posted above are absolute masterpieces. Each and every one of the images contain different elements of surrealism. I personally really like the way Uelsmann has captured one image and blended it with another making the image stand out and have the impact intended.

Movie Posters!

Movie Posters are one of the most interesting medias to come across, I think this as every poster in my opinion has a hidden meaning and only reveals minimum information to keep their readers interested; this is what reels viewers in!

F.C Gundlach

F.C Gundlach is one of the most famous fashion artists of his time. His main focus within photography was to capture the essence of fashion and to capture the time line of fashions throughout the years.

Dior perfume adverts

What I love about Dior adverts, are that they all tell their own story. Each and every one of Dior perfume adverts use extremely stunning females. The females within these adverts are almost always holding the perfume, spraying the perfume and looking extremely seductive. In my opinion this is to tell the targeted audience that if you spray this perfume you will look / feel like these models which then entices you to purchase it.

These are just some of my favourite posters by Dior.

After playing around with photo's and editing them i realised i enjoyed it a lot! With this particular picture i had taken, i chose to change the colours of the background gradually and slightly altering the colours of the petals. The first image is the original image I had taken; the second image is within the same colour scheme however a slightly darker shade of pink; however, the third picture i decided i wanted to change the colour of the background completely. Here I put a green background to highlight the flower's pinky purpley colour and illuminate the background with a green trying to create a contrast.

Beauty..

This is one of my favourite pictures that I've taken, even though it's so simple it's absolutely beautiful. The colours in the picture create the atmosphere and soften up the harsher shades of black.

Idol influences - Visual Diary

Another page from my visual diary was about celebrity idols and their influences. How influential can a celeb be? And in what ways? Well I've learnt that celebrity's can be extremely influential to girls and boys of any ages. Whether it's your hair colour or your dress sense or the way you speak, it all has to come from somewhere - celebrities. We see all sorts of different celebrities daily, in magazines, newspapers, TV, cinemas and in almost every sort of media thats around. The media today is one of the strongest influences going and in my opinion it will continue to be for a very long time.

Visual Diary - Red Rose

This rose is an image from my visual diary; I decided to draw a rose as it's my favourite flower. I tried to make the flower look as real as possible by highlighting the outer petals to make the texture look alive. Red and white roses are my all time favourite flowers, more so red roses! Hence I decided to do a red rose. In my first sketch of the rose i had little roses around the outside, however i decided not to go with this as it stood out a lot more individually.

Photoshop Edits

Here i decided to change the contrast of my picture showing the original contrast and the edited contrast. I have always enjoyed editing and creating new aspects of an original image to almost better the picture.  After playing around with Photoshop I'd come to the conclusion that some things were best not being edited dramatically and simply changing the contrast can make an extremely big difference! ..  Sometimes not a good difference!

Bob Willoughby - Hollywood Photographer

Bob Willoughby born and bred in the heart of LA was a famous Hollywood photographer, he was most famous for his outstanding work of Audrey Hepburn collections and Hollywood stills. Willoughby style of photography interests me a lot as work so simple is created into a famous masterpiece known all over the world. The angle of shots are extremely precise and the mis-en-scene within each and every photo is captured and thought out extremely well.

Henri- Cartier Bresson

Henri- Cartier Bresson was a French photographer considered to be the father of modern photojournalism, his style of photography was admired everywhere and influenced generations of photographers who followed in Cartier Bresson's footsteps. During A Levels I looked closely into Cartier Bresson's style of work and became extremely fond of his work. The way I see the photo somebody else may see it differently; for this reason i believe that Cartier Bresson worked in a way in which everyone can relate to and understand the message behind the photograph; whatever it may be.

The work of designer - Elie Saab

Designs by Elie Saab are astounding, each and every one of her designs are distinctive, elegant and simply amazing! One thing I admire about Elie Saab is that each and every one of her dresses are created in every style, shape and form for almost every individual to enjoy. Her work is admired by the likes of everyone from average joe's to A list celebrities! (though its mainly a listers who can actually afford her clothing!)

size zero.. hot or NOT?

In 2007 size zero had become the craze, no actress or model was putting on weight or was even seen to be eating. But is it really sexy? or was it just a mind convincing disorder that everyone wanted to be? Pictures of size zero models that are taken on the run way are exposed everywhere; magazines, internet, television etc. In my eyes, its not a nice look and the media in everyway is almost promoting this next to nothing but bone figure. The media is taking this look and brainwashing little girls right up to adults into thinking that this is the 'In' thing which is practically saying the only way you can look pretty is by looking like this. In this particular picture, the feeling i get from the expression on this womans face, is that she's not happy and is almost being forced into looking like this; in order to keep her job. It just goes to show that the media influences everything from how to look and how to live your life!

The Black Iris..

The Black Iris is one of Georgia O'Keeffe's most famous paintings, it was created in 1924 and was seen to be a 'Masterpiece' . Georgia O'Keeffe has always been one 0f my favourite artists as within every piece of art she constructs she creates meanings as well as subliminal messages. What i particularly like about this painting is the way in which Georgia O'Keeffe over exaggerates certain aspects within her piece of art, the size of her leaves for example which is said to have been done to elevate the ordinary to the extraordinary. Georgia O'keeffe's work has been marked as a work of art that creates mostly sexual meanings. The Black Iris is an example of this as it is seen as a representation of not only a flower but a female genitalia. You can see this within the way the flower has been positied and the clear cut lines that have been used. The colour of this flower has been modified along the way, as it started from a blacky purple colour up to lighter pinks and whites to give it a sense of innocence aswell as hardness.

'Wanderer above the sea front'

'Wanderer above the sea front'  by Casper David Friedrich is by far my favourite oil painting by Friedrich. The images strongly anchor the title of the painting and creates a visual understanding aswell as a verbal understanding of what is happening within it. In my opinion the painting was created as a possible self reflection of the artist and his vision of the future.
